Created by Act 2013-67, ALEA represents the consolidation and realignment of 12 state law enforcement agencies into one entity.

The mission of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is to efficiently provide quality service, protection and safety for the State of Alabama through the utilization of consolidated law enforcement, investigative and support services.

Consolidated Agencies
ALEA brings together the Alabama Department of Homeland Security, Department of Public Safety, Alabama Bureau of Investigation, Fusion Center, Criminal Justice Information Center, and other critical functions under one umbrella. This consolidation improves coordination, reduces duplication, and strengthens public safety across the state.
Office of the Secretary
The Secretary of ALEA is a member of the Governor's Cabinet, designated to direct the agency and advise the governor on general matters of public safety within the State of Alabama.
